The environment of Skardu valley during summer time year is moderated by its hill establishing and the extreme heat of lowland Pakistan does not reach here. The hills also prevent out summer time year monsoon and summer year rain fall is thus quite low. However, these hills result in very serious cold environment. The environment can have negative effects on transportation in and out of the Skardu valley, as Skardu becomes snowbound during the winter months year season. Often the streets in and out of Skardu (and other North Places locations) can be blocked for weeks at some point based on circumstances (though two to five times is more normal), sometimes making air journey as the only possible alternative.
